Chaotic dogfight, World War One.
This poto - among other stunning aerial combat photographs - was published by Mrs. Gladys Cockburne-Lange (the widow of a british flier) in 1932. Ever since, historians, photographic experts and former World War I pilots have argued over whether the photographs were faked. In 1979 experts in the Time-Life Photo lab studied prints from the collection and concluded they are not genuine. In: Knights of the air by Ezra Bowen, Time-Life Books, Alexandria, Virginia, 1980.

Lőoktató terem, Monostori erőd, Komárom.

A kisebb, Keleti bástyából az első világháború után a magyar honvédség lőoktató termet alakított ki, amelyben a falakra festett katonai ábrák segítségével a tisztek a helyes célzásra, a fegyver karbantartására oktatták a katonákat. A katonafigurákat, fegyvereket, lőszereket, a helyes célzást, illetve támadó repülőgépeket ábrázoló képek 1925-ben kerültek falakra, valószínűleg a honvédségben katonaként szolgáló festők munkái voltak. A második világháború után a szovjet csapatok lőszerraktárnak használták a Monostori erődöt, az Európában egyedülálló falfestmények lemeszelve vészelték át a szovjet időszakot.
